Our Journey

Church of the King is located in Metro Detroit. Our church was started in 2001 by a team of six Bible College students.  In the summer of 2001, those six students, through door to door surveys, children's ministry, community involvement, and Bible study, focused on building a small group of dreamers who were interested in beginning a new church in Southfield. By September, there were twenty-five who had come together for the launch of Church of the King.

Church of the King officially launched on September 16, just five days after the tragedy of 9.11. It was a symbolic time to start a new church that would exist to inspire hope in the midst of pain.

In January of 2002, a church building on 12 Mile Rd, just east of Greenfield, was given to us debt free. During the next few months our small church worked hard to renovate our building, and on Easter Sunday we moved into our new home. "The Miracle on 12 Mile Rd." continues to be a faith-building memory of God's blessing on our church.

Today, we recognize that the church is not a building. It is a family of diverse people from various backgrounds who come together to worship God, love one another, and serve the community.

No matter where you are in your own spiritual journey, we invite you to join us as we continue with ours.
